I find that the Charter of the Colony limits the power of the Governor to remit forfeitures to £50, expressly ~

directing that of property of a felow beyoud that amount seizure shall be made, and the matter be reported

to the Crown.

It has been suggested that the prerogative has sometimes been not

waived but simply not enforced.
